Flutist Linda Eagleson has been performing in the Washington, D.C. area since she arrived here in 1984. A native of New Jersey, she was principal flute of the Adelphi Orchestra under the direction of Emanuel Vardi. She has performed in recital at Weill (Carnegie) Recital Hall in New York City, the Brandeis Summer Music Festival in Massachusetts, WQXR (NY) radio Artists in Concert series, and the Saturday concert series at the Equinox Hotel in Manchester, VT, where she received critical acclaim as a “first-rate flutist. Linda has performed with members of the Lydian String Quartet and the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. She received her Bachelor’s degree from the Boston Conservatory, where she was a scholarship student of James Pappoutsakis, and was awarded the 1972 Dean’s Honor Award from Sigma Alpha Iota, as well as a 1973 Fullbright Scholarship. Linda received her Master’s degree from the University of Maryland, where she studied with William Montgomery, and was a finalist in the 1990 Homer Ulrich Competition. In 1991 she was a prizewinner in the Flute Society of Washington Competition. Her other teachers include Paige Brook, Julius Baker, Harold Bennett, and Thomas Perazolli. Locally, Linda has performed recitals at the Arts Club and the Lyceum, participated in area orchestras and chamber ensembles, and performed with Signature Theater. She has premiered numerous works, and has recorded Donna Kelly Eastman’s Just Us with soprano Lee Beaudoin on Capstone records. Linda is a member of the flute quartet Flauto Dolce, and was included in the 1998 International Who’s Who in Music.
